CLIO MACLELLAN
Clio Maclellan (b. 1991, Scotland) is an artist living and working in Berlin. She was born and raised in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland and studied Sculpture and Environmental Art at the Glasgow School of Art before transferring to the Universität der Künste Berlin in 2022, where she completed her Meisterschüler degree in Fine Art.
Her practice spans across artistic disciplines; sculpture, installation, painting, sound and moving image, often bringing together materials associated with agriculture, labour and the landscape of the Outer Hebrides. Working from personal experience and a deep familiarity with the materials, she uses stone, wool, milk and found objects to investigate the interplay between materiality and spirituality. Through their transformation and recontextualisation, the materials become vehicles for exploring ideas of memory, ritual, value and the relationship between the everyday and the sacred.
